Roald Amundsen, Norwegian South Pole Expedition on the ship Fram, 1910 - 1912.
1911 - Amundsen makes his first attempt for the South Pole, but it is too early in the season, a few days later suffering from frostbite and having lost dogs the team returns to Framheim in disarray.
