1912 - Douglas Mawson, Xavier Mertz and Belgrave Ninnis leave Commonwealth Bay on the Australian Antarctic Expedition with a sledge pulled by a team of dogs. Only Mawson will return after surviving harrowing experiences that took the lives of his companions.
