South Pole Dome - Entrance

The Dome and the Entrance to the Dome, shortly before construction workers removed this famous scene forever. This entrance no longer exists. It has been demolished.
Right inside this entrance were doors leading to "arches" (corrugated metal barrel vaults) on either side, and continuing straight through a tunnel led to the Dome. The tunnel to the Dome has been demolished, and the arches on either side have been connected here, and at another point where a third inline arch was connected by another small tunnel, to create one really long arch. The orange building to the left of the Dome is Skylab, an atmospheric research facility from the 1970's.
