Life on Base

This is the cover of a winter base publication. Such winter magazines have been popular since the very early days of Antarctic exploration with Scott back in the first years of the 1900's.
This fella looks like he's up for the "Golden Blanket" award which was given to whoever had spent the greatest amount of the winter in bed. Late to get up and early to bed, sometimes someone would spend the whole day or even longer in bed.
Not good news really, these days we would probably call it depression.
