Ice inside the station

Wherever there was a source of heat, the snow on the overhead would melt and drip inside where it would again freeze forming a mass such as this. In some areas it could be ignored, in others it posed a hazard to walking or other activity and had to be removed. This involved breaking it up with a long pick or iron bar, loading onto a sled and hauling outside. One of many such housekeeping chores.
