Operation Deep Freeze 1960 - this is Quonset Point R.I. from where we departed for the ice. I flew on the super constellation (rear), the C-130 Hercules was flown by US Navy VX-6 squadron. Notice the large ski's on the C-130. the wheels extended below them. They were retracted to land on the ice. What a beautiful plane, I had several flights on this plane on the ice.
