Russian icebreaker off Oates Land

An ice breaker starting to do what it was built for. There is a lot of skill and experience needed to navigate such ships in heavy ice, being able to read the signs and decide at which point to enter the ice and which route to take. Breaking ice uses a lot of fuel compared to travelling in open water and the heavier the ice, the greater the usage.
