Hilary 1957 Expedition
Hut at Scott Base
One of the original buildings from
1957 the purpose of which was to support the Trans-Antarctic
Expedition of Hilary/Fuchs.
Like many historic buildings in Antarctica,
this was never intended to have a long life, being built for
a specific short-term purpose, half a century later it is still
in good condition and probably likely to last for some considerable
time to come like those buildings from the early 1900's.
