Solar halo - sundogs and
sled dogs.
The depths of winter in
Antarctica can give conditions with lots of tiny ice
crystals hanging in the air, these can give all sorts of
atmospheric phenomena when the sun shines. The ring is
called a Solar Halo and the two bright areas at the 3 and 9
o'clock positions are called Sun Dogs.
