I've never been to Antarctica with the US programme, I went with British Antarctic Survey. I've never been a janitor anywhere! A guess - take what a janitor earns in the US and there's your answer. It'll seem more as you get fed and housed for nothing, have your clothes provided and don't have much to spend your money on.
