Ybarra finds inspiration in Franz Meyer's celebrated personal ceramic collection, which features a vast amount of pieces from around the world. Ybarra paints a detailed composition of a knight traveling through a beautiful forest, all painted blue. Franz Meyer lived in Mexico City at the beginning of the 1900's; his art collection included ceramic pieces, mosaics and silver. He is credited with rescuing many pre-Hispanic artifacts that had been taken out of Mexico. When he died, his collection included 30,000 pieces, which he bequeathed to the people of Mexico. Meyer's home has since been transformed into one of Mexico's most important museums. |
