 'Mad Beetle'
$99.95
It is the distinctive profile of a besouro, one of the innumerable beetles found in the state of Mato Grosso in west central Brazil. The region is arid and scorching, and its varied fauna finds unique expression in the work of Andre de Miranda. After living in this part of Brazil for four years, the artist embarked upon an explorative series of linocuts. Describing his work he says, eThey are creatures inspired in the animals that I saw, but in truth they are creatures of the unconscious, they are the face of solitude, of fear, in short the infinity of animals we create internally.e The image is created by first engraving linoleum and then printing the image onto typographic paper using off-set ink. Arrives unframed. Titled eBesouro doidoe in Portuguese. |
