Default Cool Antarctica

If Antarctic ice is melting due to global warming I guess we need to cool Antarctica.

In busy parts of the sky aircraft vapour trails merge to form a thin layer of high level cloud. This causes less sunlight to reach the ground and the ground is cooler as a result - all part of the phenomenon known as Global Dimming.

Let's fly a fleet of planes, adapted to maximise the volume and reflectivity of their vapour trails, over the vulnerable Antarctic ice during summer days - a 21st century parasol to cool Antarctica.

Elementry dear watson's. Build a sun reflector to orbit above the arctic in outer space. Producing a shadow over the arctic 24 hours a day. You'd still see day light just not direct sun light. The reflector would be real big but smaller in size then one would think. They can hit comets a long ways away with capsules meant for "aliens" so why not a reflector that would know the path to orbit year round producing a shadow only for one spot on earth. We could then take that tecnology to divert those harmful rays and funnel them to other countrys thus burning people we don't like and taking over the world.........yes, yes, i think it could work. world domination via sunburns.

Default lounge talk?

of course this is under the assumption the sun is more harmfull to the arctic (by ozone depleation) then global warming is. how hot can a summer day get there anyhow eh?
