Default Re Maori Carving

I am writing to you to see if anyone can help me locate a contact of a person or persons that have wintered over at McMurdo Base.

I am from New Zealand and in late 1970's or early 1980's a friend of mine by the name of Bob Sopp was wintering over as a diesel mechanic at the New Zealand Base.

Bob was a native New Zealander ie. a New Zealand Maori and he did a carving which he donated to the people who were wintering over at McMurdo and I am lead to believe it was hung up in the mess room or social room.

Bob passed away 11 years ago and the family are very keen to locate the carving as it has very spiritual connection to the family back here in New Zealand.

I have offered to try and locate someone who can help us to at least determine whether the carving is still at the base and whether or not it can be returned to New Zealand?

If you can help me it would be very much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Bob McKee
