I do not agree with it. I think it's evil, barbaric, selfish and murderous. Sorry but that's just my own opinion. I don't know alot about Whaling, but I love the Big Blue Whale, which makes me a lover of all Whales and Mammals. Maybe I'll go and kill some Japs dog and if they have a problem with it, I'll just tell them I'm upening up a Doggery stall selling Dog Meat for a living. Needs must.

GRR !

WOAH! Maria!!

Dog meat?? I don't know about Japan but maybe in another part of the world you may become very rich selling dog meat!

I was reading the earlier replies and now I'm officially confused (doens't take much to achieve that for me!) What is the difference between a "vegan" and "vegetarian"?? Sorry but I eat meat and I refuse to be ashamed of it and I'm not familiar with the vege lingo...so, would someone nicely explain and don't hold my disgusting culinary tastes against me??

Well, I was speaking hyperthetically of course I love Dogs, too !

And in answer to your Vegan / Veg question, I have no idea. I love meat, but I'm slowly refraining mysef from eating it. I don't eat Sausages anymore, I don't eat Beef, and I'm trying to stop eating Bacon, Ham and the rest of it ! Although I don't think anything bad or bitchy about anyone who eats meat, I've eaten it all my life, but almost seeing Pigs being slaughtered on TV (before I switched it over), I've kind of 'thunk' (if that's even a word) twice about meat altogether.

Maria,
I tried becoming a vegetarian way back in my high school days (that was around about the time the wheel was invented) but I couldn't do it.
I do have a lot of respect for people who can do it and good on 'em!

I will eat meat as long it hasn't been a pet.....we have a farm you see! Besides, how do we know that the vegetables don't hurt when we pluck, pick and cut them?? I have heard of a research study that was done where they showed that plants shied away from you when you went to pick them! So I guess that means we should all become oxygenatarians??

Vegetarians will also eat dairy produce - from animals, but without the animal being killed. I've even met some vegetarians who eat fish (wild-not reared for the table) but they seem like strange vegetables to me.

Vegans are stricter and don't eat or use any animal products at all - often not even wearing leather shoes.

I have to say anyone I've ever known who is a vegan has always looked decidely pallid and ill to me. Lack of iron in the diet is a particular problem - especially in females. I've suggested (obliquely) a number of times in my teaching career that young girls in my classes who I know are vegetarian or vegan and looking a bit "peaky" aught to take some vitamin and mineral tablets too.

Humans are designed to be omnivores.

Paul,

I totally agree.....I also had a friend at school was a fish-eating vegetarian so I could never figure out how it worked!

I don't judge because I also have a restricted diet...to a certain extent so I understand the fact that others have a choice that can make too.

Jani,

I totally agree with you. I think that we have come to a point as humnas where we can find other means of sustenance. The Japanese are a very technologically advanced race. You'd think that they would have the brains to think of something else to eat other than whales!! Which part of "they are endangered" don't they understand?? And that goes for all those other A@#$#$#@ that keep hunting these defenseless creatures! Animals and children are my one weakness because their lives are in the hands of others and they don't have choices, or rather, they are not allowed to make choices!!

all i know is fasion is BIG over there.....ever see how freely they dress. i mean i could be in a harpooned whale costume and they wouldn't notice? some crazy getty ups over there. freedom of culture is a good thing but is there a limit on what freedoms we should have, if everything goes then its beyond thunderdome for me, i'm straight up putting my kurt rambis jersey on and getting freaky.
