Default Too late for this season?

Hi, I'm a carpenter looking to get a job for the 2004-05 austral summer. I'm trying to decide whether to buy a plane ticket to attend the job fair in Denver next week. I've read that the best way to get a job is to go a job fair, but I also know that it is late in the year for hiring and I don't want to waste my time and money if I don't have a chance at getting a job. I've been to the Raytheon site and it seems that there are still some carpentry positions open...Any advice is greatly appreciated.
