As the satellite imagery gets better, there's more and more to see with satellite imagery. There is a base at -77.413990° 163.683769° near Gneiss Point about 85 km NW of McMurdo. It looks like it has at least one fairly modern structure. I tried to google it for a few hours and haven't been able to come up with an identity. Can anyone here tell me the name of the base and what is done there?

It wasn't tagged on Google Earth?

Nope. It's not in the database Google uses or in the more extensive Geonames database. And no mark from the Google Earth Community layer has been added by any user.

It's a US refuelling facility, put this into Google:
77.41S 163.68E http://www.scribd.com/doc/1000347/Na...sap-200506aeoi http://www.nsf.gov/about/contracting...ces_tagged.pdf Looks like it's used by helicopters flying from McMurdo, it's called Marble Point. How did you find it though? |

A new member of the Google Earth Community forum posted the question after he had just been browsing the imagery. |

One of our new members found it just scanning the imagery. I don't know how he did though since the imagery there is so underexposed. |
