18 mile crack in glaciermeans the birth of a giant ice-berg is imminent
 In the picture you are looking down into a crack on the Pine Island Glacier, the crack is at least 18 miles long by about 50-60m down to sea level, the ice then continues under the water for about 8 times this distance.
