Default Recommended literature, DVD's etc.

There is a wealth of literature out there about early Antarctic expeditions and Arctic too. What is "must read" in your opinion?

I'll start it off with two suggestions for the newcomer:

Let Heroes Speak An overview of early expeditions up to 1922 and a good place to start before you decide to find out about any of them in detail.

Alfred Lansings story of Shackleton's Endurance Expedition I am an unashamed Shackleton fan and this is one of the greatest adventure stories of all time - true or otherwise - regardless of the setting. Also available as an Audiobook which is great for in the car - highly recommended.

i don't know if this book is easy to find, but i got it for $20 at barnes and noble, it's called South with the Edurance". it's a book that mainly focuses on the photography of Frank Hurley--which is exqusite! so i guess it's more of a "must see", than a "must read". it even includes photos that are some of the only surviving prints of rare kodak coloring technique from the 1900's. all of the pictures are very beautiful.
