Default Driving in Antarctica

Good day
My name is Bruno and I?m from Switzerland, I have been living here in Canada for the last 15 years. I?m a mechanic and Truck driver, I have been driving on the Russian and Canadian winter roads (Ice roads) for the last 9 years. I know all about the cold and the harsh conditions the Arctic has. If anyone has some information on how I could get a job as a driver or mechanic in the Antarctica, it would bee very much appreciated.

Hi Bruno,

As you are in Canada, the US programme is probably your best bet, but not being a US citizen will count against you. Having said this, supply and demand play a part, so if you have skills that are in shortage, you could well stand a chance.

Raytheon deal with all US recruitment for support personell, so try here:

I'd email them in the first place with your circumstances, then you'll find if it's worth persuing.

Most countries strongly prefer their own nationality on Antarctic bases, but there is some flexibility. Usually you won't be recruited if you can't attend interview in the relevant country.

Depending on how much time you want to spend looking, you could maybe ask the other Antractic programmes that are listed here:
