Be sure to read Shackleton, too. His "Endeavour" expedition is most popular, but I enjoyed reading his account in "Heart of the Antarctic".
Shackleton is generally given credit as the greatest of the Antarctic explorers by those currently in Antarctica, but Scott certainly had many good points as well.
