  • Too late for this season?

Hi, I'm a carpenter looking to get a job for the 2004-05 austral summer. I'm trying to decide whether to buy a plane ticket to attend the job fair in Denver next week. I've read that the best way to get a job is to go a job fair, but I also know that it is late in the year for hiring and I don't want to waste my time and money if I don't have a chance at getting a job. I've been to the Raytheon site and it seems that there are still some carpentry positions open...Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Well only you can decide if it's worth spending the money. I'd say go for it as if you don't, you'll almost guarantee you won't get it.

If you do go, then make sure you speak to as many recruiters as possible so they remember who you are and keep your resume hopefully with some annotations on it. The chances are that if make a good impression this time but don't get hired for whatever reason, that you'll stand a much better chance next time around if you apply afresh and mention that you went to the job fair.
