  • Lower-Level Position

After college, due to being a Business major, I obviously cannot take a summer job. If I were to apply for a lower-level job, like say Preparation cook, what are my chances of getting in? I went to the Antarctic with Quark Expeditions in December/January 06/07, and talking to the American member of the Expedition team (our tour directors, if you will) I would not have a hard time getting in if I went to the Job fair and was as enthusiastic there as I am now (He's not making a generalization, he worked as a carpenter at Scott-Amundsen South Pole Base).

My real question is, what does one do exactly at the job fair? I know we're supposed to meet people and take names and numbers, but what then? Do I have to make a large amount of phone calls, or do I just have to do an interview or two to greatly increase my chances? I don't care when or for how long I have to go to the Antarctic, and prefer to go to McMurdo, either for a short or long time.
