Poster: Paul Ward (see this users gallery) Getting into winter now, the sea-ice has been formed for some time, but note how little snow there is on the ground around the base. Antarctica is a desert and even the relatively high snow-fall coastal regions only get about 8 inches of water equivalent per year.
