In the dimly-lit hut at Cape Evans, Captain Scott's bunk is in one corner of the large single room. Personal items such as a hot water bottle and spare socks hang on the wooden walls above the reindeer fur blankets, and a well-thumbed copy of the 'Illustrated London News' from 1909 lies on the desk. It's a strange sensation standing quietly inside this frozen time capsule; you almost expect some members of the expedition to return through the door at any moment! |

I always thought these Mary Celeste like hut interiors were odd, as you say, it looks like they've just gone off on a journey and may well be back through the door any minute.
