This photo was taken from the Grytviken jetty, South Georgia. In the foreground are two old sealing vessels, Dias and Albatros, which are partially sunk. Since this photo was taken in 2003, Albatros and Dias have been refloated, pulled onto the beach and backfilled in order to make them safe. The buildings of the BAS base at King Edward Point can just be seen to the left of the left-hand ship. |
