Poster: Alan (see this users gallery) Between the great distances that can be seen in good weather, the lack of scale that makes distant features look closer than they are, and clouds that can add additional darkness to the night sky overhead, there is sometimes a rather striking effect when all about seems night but one corner of the sky appears to be day.
