This is the kind of picture that would scare me about Antarctica, emphasizing how small, alien and insignificant the base really is in the vast icy landscape. Best viewed at full size for most impact!

The thing that really scared me was that the coast in the top of the picture is approx 18km,s away.Its not very far i can tell you,especially as the big lump of ice that broke off the brunt on the 16th jan was 15km by 5km.
Now that is perspective.
You can also see mirages on a sunny day of all the bergs sailing past.
very bizarre.

Sounds like you need a new base before very long! Is Halley on a floating bit of ice? or is it still over the land?
