Excellent photograph Mike - thank you.
The quality and detail shown is of great use to me in my research into this vehicle - now if I could only find the rest of the car!

That's a fantastic shot! I love the small clouds glowing with the sun behind the mountain.

Nice pic Jenny, Cemetary Flats was a place I used to go quite regularly for a walk away from base. Even on a manky day like this, there was plenty to see and always some furries - my favourite animals!

What a picture! Is there any pic of a penguin that looks like Mumble! Are there any dancing?

It's almost unreal when you look at shots like this (pretty good for a tourist shot too!).
Am I right in thinking that Stonington is now a proper island with no connection to elsewhere? How far away is the mainland now?

Jenny,
Could you give me any idea how far the glacier snout was back from the island when you overflew in 2002? If I remember correctly the ramp lost about 30 metres of width between 1971 and 1973 and the glacier snout actually retreated by about 70-80 metres over the same period.

As a contrast, I've seen it with all the ice now gone and the ramp no longer in existence. I have just uploaded an aerial photo taken from the other direction showing Stonington as a lone island in 2002. I wish I could have set foot on the island though!
