Spent 6 days on the ice @ Scott Base with the RNZAF - 40 Sqdn air supply drop for the building of the Vanda lake research hut - Icecube 3 I think was the name of the special operation carried out by the RNZAF. email available Nicki Fairbairn (2000/2001, winter over) - Germany Worked as winter domestic (all year) and then bar/shop manager when Jenna went home over the Winter Months. Hydroponics was a great part of the duties back then. Don Webster (1960,1963) - Palmerstson North, New Zealand Wintered over 1960 and again in 1963. Installed and operated the Auroral Radar, the first science installations to use Arrival Heights. When the experiment closed down in 1967 the hut was move to lake Vanda. |
