Water plant, Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station. Note: the water is not "purified" here - it is already some of the purest water on the planet.
It is "processed" here, and various chemicals are added, in particular lime. There were some problems this year as the lime stone brought in for the purpose came with algae attached, so that it became necessary after all to purify the water. They add the lime because otherwise the water is too acidic.
