South Pole Station- New location of Ceremonial Pole

How different it is today from less than a hundred years ago when men walked to the pole with a high risk of death in the process. A huge multi-building station with 50 staff there over the winter, 100 in the summer, several multi-million dollar scientific projects and the whole lot flown in by air.
You can now arrive at the pole in relative comfort in about 7 hours instead of an expedition lasting the best part of two years and a huge amount of discomfort.
