The first electrical generator that was sent to Signy was a petrol model, unfortunately diesel fuel was sent down to run it on (or it may have been the other way round, I read it in an old base report and neglected to make notes). Fortunately though the act was eventually got together and over the years electricity went from an occasional requirement for some equipment to a 24/7/365 reliable energy source.
Pictures on the wall are of mechanics that BAS was requested to recruit in the future - not sure how successful the campaign was though.
