Christmas is an odd time on base as it comes in the middle of the Austral summer and at a time of 24 hour daylight or not far off 24 hours. Midwinter on the 21st of June is the real celebration in Antarctica being more like the conditions we in the northern hemisphere associate with Christmas - but more so!
