The Bransfield arrived in early November, sat on the horizon at the edge of the (then solid) ice for 2/3 days and then sailed off for a month and returned to deliver the ice relief (not sure of the exact date) at the end of Nov/early Dec - the ice was rotten but sound enough to complete the relief. I think the FID in front of the Brantub is me (can't quite make out from the thumbnail, but I'm assuming the shot is of the ship's arrival)! I filmed her (8mm cine) ploughing through the ice towards me - much to the consternation of the first officer!

| This picture is one of a collection assembled in
2007 on
the 60th anniversary of Signy Island
Base: 60°43'S 045°36'W. Thank you to those who sent their treasured memories of their time in
Antarctica and allowed them to be made into a commemorative cd
and then placed here on the web. My commentary is taken from notes I was sent with the pictures if any. Corrections or additions, please The reunion weekend was 14-16 September 2007. |
