Most pictures of Signy base are taken with the sea and Coronation Island in the background, this is taken with Signy itself in the background. The * is placed at  the top of the the "stone chute" which slopes down to sea level to the right at about 45 degrees in the photograph. This had to be climbed every time you went off base when there was no sea-ice as the only "easy" route off the small peninsula on which the base is built. It is as arduous as it looks.

This picture is one of a collection assembled in 2007 on the 60th anniversary of Signy Island Base: 60°43'S 045°36'W. Thank you to those who sent their treasured memories of their time in Antarctica and allowed them to be made into a commemorative cd and then placed here on the web.

The reunion weekend was 14-16 September 2007
