Base After Re-supply

1965 - Piles of stores of anything and everything you can imagine arrive off ships at relief in the spring. The only resource that is not shipped in is fresh-water, everything else has to be brought in the main from the UK, though much fresh and frozen food is bought en-route in South America.
When everything has been unpacked, there are many wooden crates left over. While these days, these are taken out of Antarctica, until quite recently (1990's) they were simply burnt just off to the edge of the base, in fact having a good "burny" was a bit of a bonus for the daily gash man whose job it was to have the fire.
